Welcome to the Santa Barbara High School Library Media Center. Our mission is to support the standards-based curriculum of Santa Barbara High School and to ensure that the school community (all students, teachers, and staff are “effective users of ideas and information.”) The Library Media Center provides access to fiction, nonfiction, and reference materials, audio and DVD recordings, current magazines and newspapers, as well as electronic resources, which students can access from home 24/7. Our print and electronic collection reflects diversity and multiculturalism. One of our goals is to teach students information literacy skills to prepare them to be lifelong learners in our global environment. A second goal is to instill a joy of reading by exposing students to both academic and recreational materials. The Library Media Center includes two computer labs (one with 36 networked workstations and the second with 31 networked workstations). We are available for SBHS parent meetings in the evenings, and we encourage parent volunteers to help with shelving, shelf-checking, and other needed work. The Library Media Center staff are here to help, so please ask. Come by often.
