Community Service / Internships

Community Service & Internships

All things Community Service and Internship related can be found in the College & Career Center. Stop by to pick up forms, drop off completed hours, look up service opportunities, or just to check on total hours completed. The graduation requirement is 60 hours of Community Service and/or Internships. Completed hours may be turned-in twice per year during the months of December or May. Hours completed will only be accepted if turned in within the year in which they were completed. 
For Class of 2018 and beyond - students that successfully complete 200 Community Service and/or Internship hours by October 31st of their Senior year will receive the Community Service Excellence Award.

Coalition of Youth Advocates (COYA) SB Public Health Department

 COYA is an action driven alliance of teens increasing awareness of the health risks of tobacco and encouraging prevention and policy change within the community, while providing members with leadership skills, a fun and safe environment and the opportunity to serve the public. We can offer stipends or community service.

After School/Expanded Learning Program – Elementary Schools

In need of high school volunteers!!! TK-2nd grade. 9 elementary schools to choose from: Adams, Cleveland, Franklin, Harding, McKinley, Monroe, Peabody, Roosevelt and Washington. You can help during homework time, or just to play with the kids and keep them engaged. It's a great way for high school students to get experience working in a classroom while getting their community service hours!"

Santa Barbara Library Homework Help Program

We are currently seeking new volunteers for our After School Homework Help Program! Homework Help is a free program offered to K-6 students who need a place to do their homework. Homework usually consists of doing some math problems and reading, nothing that is too hard to solve together or with the help of other volunteers. Teens will need to be at least a sophomore in high school, maintain a B GPA or above, and provide a letter of recommendation from teacher

Volunteer Training Wednesday, September 6 from 4-5:30pm.

3 different locations (Central Library, Eastside, and Carpinteria Library).

PATH  Santa Barbara (people assisting the homeless)

Volunteers are needed to prep and serve meals on a regular basis. They will also be needing help with their PATH's Making it Home Event.

Cleveland Elementary Needs Tutors


Looking for student math tutors to help elementary students after school anytime from now until end of May.

 Arts for Humanity!

Become a Volunteer with Art for Humanity!  Volunteers are essential to Arts for Humanity! and are needed in any number of areas: teaching artists and mentors,  photographers, videographers, and with development, outreach, graphics/web design, PR, marketing, and office administration.

Girls Inc

Volunteers are needed at both the Santa Barbara and Goleta centers to work one-on-one with the girls to encourage them to complete their homework, and lend a hand when needed.

Winter Play: each center stages an annual play, and volunteers are needed 2 days a week from September – December to help with staging, costuming, sets, running lines, and all the fun (and work) involved in the magic of theater.

Santa Barbara School of SQUASH

The Santa Barbara School of Squash is looking for passionate and caring individuals to volunteer their time to make a difference in the lives of low-income students in the Santa Barbara area. As a tutor you will have the opportunity to help students succeed academically and foster a positive outlook for their futures. Our students’ ages range from 4th grade to high school seniors. Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History

The Museum is looking for teens to join their Science Education Nature Exploration program. You can earn community service hours, volunteer at the museum, take museum & science classes and even become paid employees.

Habitat for Humanity  

We are dedicated to eliminating substandard and overcrowded housing through the building and renovation of affordable homes for low income families. All volunteers must be 16 or older. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Visiting Nurse & Hospice

Loan Closet loans medical equipment free of charge to the community, such as crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, and canes, and bathroom safety items. We need volunteers for data entry, wiping down equipment, washing equipment, making copies, and other tasks, as assigned. The hours are flexible!

SB Arts Alliance youth art program

Conduct weekly/monthly Neighborhood clean-ups & Graffiti Abatement -via the Adopt-A- Block Program.  Clean locations in the Lower Eastside, Lower Westside Neighborhood, and Milpas street business corridor –

Villa Riviera

Assisted Living facility for 20 elderly individuals. Volunteers needed to work with 82-94 year old residents. Students can play music, work on art projects, call bingo, play word games, read as a group, help with gardening etc

Art From Scrap Creative Reuse Store 

Volunteers needed to work in our reuse store: stocking, sorting, and organizing materials. You can "adopt" a section of the store to maintain and stock weekly or help out when your schedule permits.
