Dual Language Immersion (DLI): A program that provides integrated language learning and academic instruction for native speakers of English and native speakers of another language, with the goals of high academic achievement, first and second language proficiency, and cross-cultural understanding. This program is designed to help English learners, reclassified (R-FEP) students, initially English proficient (I-FEP) students and native English speakers, develop biliteracy and social-cultural competence in at least two languages - English and Spanish.
Staffing Requirements: The DLI program is staffed by credentialed teachers with Bilingual Authorization/Bilingual Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development (BCLAD) Certificate.
Program Goals: The Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program focuses on teaching students literacy in two languages, promoting bilingualism and biliteracy. The following are the program goals for DLI:.
