Parking Permit Information
Students with a parking permit have agreed to the following terms and conditions:
General: Student parking is a privilege. Permits can be revoked at any time for reasons that the site principal or his designee deems appropriate, no refund will be provided. Students who do not follow the terms & conditions stated below will be subject to disciplinary action which may include suspension, loss of permit, and/or Saturday School detention and subject to disciplinary action which may include suspension, and / or loss of parking permit.
Safety & Liability: Vehicle owners are required by California law to carry liability insurance. The Santa Barbara School Districts and Santa Barbara High School assume no responsibility for damage or theft to vehicles. Students park on campus at their own risk. Student drivers are required to follow all California vehicle codes while operating their vehicle on campus. The speed limit is 10 mph.
Parking: Students may not park in the staff, visitor, or any reserved parking spaces on campus. Students are allowed to park in one of the spaces in either the senior or junior parking lot. A space is only guaranteed during regular school hours between 7:30am and 3:30pm, during calendared school days. The parking permit does not guarantee parking privilege outside of these times. A valid parking permit must be displayed at all times. Vehicles without a permit are subject to ticketing, towing, or both. Any student caught using a reproduced, counterfeit, or copied permit will lose their parking privileges for the balance of their time at Santa Barbara High School and could also receive additional consequences.
Leaving Campus & Searches: Students are not allowed to return to their cars throughout the day, except if they are leaving campus. Students may leave campus only during lunch, when their school day is over or with written permission from the Attendance Office or Administration. Leaving campus at times other than these is prohibited and may result in the loss of parking privileges. All vehicles on campus may be subject to a vehicle search if there is reasonable suspicion that the car contained an item that may be harmful to that student or to other students on campus
Permit Fees & Non-Transferability: The fee for a parking permit is $40 per school year. Replacement/additional vehicle passes are $10 each. No refund or pro-rated refund will be given. Relinquishing the permit for any reason does not give cause for the school to refund the permit fees. Permits may not be sold to a third party or be issued by a third party. Parking Permits are non-transferable. The penalty for violation of this requirement is confiscation of the permit.
*Please note that seniors will have priority for parking. In the event of receiving more requests for parking spots than available, we will hold a lottery.
